Rigging Hardware used for Moving Loads

Rigging hardware usually is a category that includes a variety of tools and equipment for hoisting, pulling, pushing, and lifting in construction, shipping, and manufacturing.

Rigging hardware also involves tools and equipment that facilitate the safe and efficient movement of heavy loads. Heavy load carrying is required from construction sites to bustling ports.

This kind of hardware is engineered to withstand high loads and stresses while ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials and equipment. It plays a critical role in tasks such as crane operations, material handling, and load securing, contributing to workplace safety and productivity.

RIGGING HARDWARE UTILIZED FOR LOAD LIFTING

1. BLOCKS AND PULLEYS

These are the essential components of rigging hardware used to lift and move heavy loads with ease.

Blocks are mechanical devices typically made of steel or other durable materials. They’re often attached to fixed structures such as beams or frames, or integrated into lifting equipment such as cranes and hoists. The way it works is by providing a mechanical advantage by redirecting the direction of force and multiplying the input force applied to the rope or cable, making it easier to lift heavy loads.

Pulleys, simple machines with a grooved wheel and rope or cable, change force direction and boost lifting power. They can be fixed or movable. Multiple pulleys in a block and tackle system also make lifting heavier loads easier.

2. LIFTING LUGS

Container Lifting Lugs are specialized hardware components made of heavy-duty steel and attached to the corners and sides of shipping containers.

When lifting a container, equipment like cranes, forklifts, or spreader bars positioned above it. Lifting lugs serve as anchor points, allowing safe engagement with the container. Once secured, the equipment applies upward force, lifting the container evenly.

Lifting lugs are known to distribute weight evenly maintaining a secure connection and ensuring stability when lifting.

3. EYE BOLTS

They consist of a threaded shank with a forged or welded loop or “eye” at one end. This eye serves as an attachment point for rigging equipment such as hooks, shackles, or lifting slings.

Eye bolts are typically made of strong materials such as stainless steel or alloy steel.

To use an eye bolt, it is screwed into a pre-drilled hole or threaded insert in the load-bearing structure. Once securely installed, rigging equipment such as hooks or shackles can be attached to the eye of the bolt using a suitable connecting link.

4. WIRE ROPES

The structure of wire ropes is such that it can handle stress. They consist of multiple strands of metal wire twisted or braided together to form a flexible and robust cable.

In lifting applications, wire ropes are often used in conjunction with pulleys, sheaves, and other rigging hardware to hoist and move heavy loads.

Since they are, resistant to abrasion, corrosion, and fatigue, wire ropes ensure long-term performance and reliability in harsh environments and demanding conditions.

They are made to be available in a range of sizes and configurations to suit different lifting requirements and applications. Also, you have the option to customize to accommodate specific rigging setups and load-handling needs.
